I Can’t Call in To Work or I’ll Be FIRED!
If you live in one of the 30 states where individuals can still be fired simply for being gay or lesbian, (yes, unbelievably, there are still 30), there are plenty of ways that you can lend a hand and a voice in our fight for gay equality--without missing work. You will certainly think of other ways, too, so when you do post them on the Discussion Forum page!

Here are 4 things you can do to participate in Day Without a Gay even if you can’t miss work:

1. Spread the word.

JOIN OUR FACEBOOK GROUP

FOLLOW US ON TWITTER

INVITE YOUR FRIENDS
Email, phone calls, Facebook, MySpace, smoke signals—get the word out! Download the logo from our Photos page (right click and "Save" image to your computer) and paste it into your emails, or post it on your Facebook, MySpace, or website!

TELL YOUR LOCAL MEDIA
Copy and past the press release form our Media Relations page into an email or a word document and send it around to your local news media.

2. Help seek out and post volunteer oportunities in your area.
Even if you can’t take the day off from work, you can help notify others of volunteer opportunities in your area. Take a few minutes to contact ANY ORGANIZATION NEAR YOU that does nice things for other people on a non-profit basis, and see if they could use some volunteers on December 10. Then, direct them to our website and encourage them to post their opportunity for service. OR, offer to post it for them! Here are some ideas of places to start with:

Local Gay-Straight Alliance Trevor Project/Helpline SPCAs (Pet Rescues)
Local PFLAG Chapter Nursing Homes HIV/AIDS Services
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Homeless Shelters Gay & Lesbian Centers
Meals on Wheels Rehab Centers Local Schools

3. Educate others about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
We’re still waiting for the Senate to pass ENDA so that it can be signed into law. Once it is, it will become illegal to discriminate against gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered individuals in the workplace. This is the fight for the most basic civil rights for ALL Amercians. To learn more, visit these great websites:
National Gay & Lesbian Task Force: ENDA Info
ACLU ENDA Page

4. Contact your state representatives TODAY to voice your support for ENDA.
Contact your member of the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
Contact your SENATORS.

5. Contact your state representatives TODAY to voice your opposition to prop 8
We are asking folks to send emails to the legislature in support of the resolutions to make it the official policy of the state that Prop 8 is invalid. www.eqca.org
