My Cousin came from a family that is super incredibly religious. This religious group is EXTREMELY anti-gay, anti homosexual, everything. He found out he was gay. HE HIMSELF was a believer and believed being gay was a choice. Until he found out he was gay. Then he helped educate his family, us included, that being gay is not a choice!
My cousin went through years of denial and reluctance because he felt like he was betraying God. His God. His God that he STILL believes in. When you are an incredibly religious person (such as my cousin), you don't make a 'choice' to be something that is starkly AGAINST your religion. If that isn't enough proof that this isn't a choice, I don't know what is. I personally am not gay, but I SUPPORT LOVE. If two people love eachother, let them be. LOVE is what makes the world go round, as hippie as that sounds! It's opposition to love that messes things up. Grow up. Gay people are not harming you in any way. Let them love.

First I would like to say that I am human. I am not gay, bi, or straight. My attraction and love to whatever I choose is my choice and no one elses. I believe in equality more than anyone I know.
When I read or hear about groups, campaigns, activities, etc., along the lines of what you are doing such as Day Without A Gay I am glad to see action being taken but also saddened by the ignorance that blinds it as well. On just this page alone I have read a phrase that referenced to Gay America. Are you not doing what homophobic people do but with a different style? It is merely a positive way of doing the same thing. You are labeling people. Attaching values to what you think is better or worse. This is the opposite of equality. There is no better or worse with equality present. You made reference to straight allies. Are there straight enemies? Should we not all view each other as equal? Can you not agree with this quote? If so, maybe instead of fighting for "gay equality" why dont you just join the peaceful resolution for equality. There is no need to call anything a fight as well. There is no "fight" for equality. As there is no war for equality. Equality exists in all of us. It begins simply with our understanding and respect for one another. If you choose to love everyone, including those you disagree with or who disagree with you, your love and understanding will always triumph. None of us can deny that love makes us feel good to the very core of everyone of us. Love is a blanket that warms the soul of us all. Love is always unconditional. We will know when there is equality amongst us all. The day that we simply love one another regardless of any differences and exclude words that define us or label us. Equality is Love. Unconditional Love.

all these hate messages make me want to puke, and i just have to interject with something positive from the straight side. so rock the fuck on. it brings warmth to picture a loving movement of consciousness out in the community spreading simple links of love. in ecuador, they are celebrating the marriage rights of gays in their new constitution. we are on the way, lads. here's a toast to keep it real and in focus...cheers! |

WHAT ?CAUSE SOMEONES REGILION SAYS SO? Wow reading some of these posts is just flat out sad. Why are you people even on this website if you don't agree with it? That just the thing with Prop 8 and the other propositions that passed. It's really the religious right getting into others business and telling them what to do when you don't see the homosexuals getting into their business saying straight marriage isn't right, straight sex is gross, straights molest children, etc... Why is that? Why can't people just let other people live their life with the same freedoms as the next person? Straight people have anal sex so the post "I'm curious" doesn't really apply only to homosexuals. I've heard of very few homosexuals molesting children. When you hear of these perverts on the news it is overwhelmingly a straight male who is a husband, a father, and seemed so "normal". Oh and domestic partnership is NOT the same as marriage. Do your homework before you make a post. First off a marriage is recognized in every state. Domestic partnerships are recognized only in the state it was issued. Second there's the issue of taxes. As a married couple you are guaranteed unlimited transfers and gifts and automatic right to inherit without tax penalties. Able to file federal income taxes jointly. In a domestic partnership you are taxed federally on those gifts and inheritances and must file separately. Lastly, being married you are eligible for Social Security, veteran's benefits and pension plan survivor benefits upon death of spouse. In a domestic partnership you do not receive Social Security, veteran's benefits and pension plan survivor benefits upon death of partner. You're not guaranteed equal benefits from employers. You're also excluded from long-term care benefits. Even if marriage and domestic partnership were the "same", the concept of "separate but equal" has been deemed unconstitutional for decades.

I'm straight and I am disgusted by some of the mean things written on here. We don't choose who we are attracted or fall in love with. For all of you who think it is a choice to be gay think about this: Could you force yourself to be with someone of the same sex? You did not choose to be straight. But you do choose whether or not to be a biggoted asshole. Grow up, have an open mind, and realize gay, bi, trans, straight or whatever we all deserve the same rights.

I am a Christian who reads the Bible daily and places my faith in Jesus Christ. It's too bad that many people who say they are Christians have been so rude to people who are homosexual. I wish I could apologize for them!
That being said, for me as a Christian, homosexuality is a moral issue. Without stating my stance on the issue, I will say that God's grace has been extended to all, even me, and I am so thankful to have accepted it!

I'd call it "HOORAY-NO GAYS....THANKS FOR STAYING AWAY!" I'm tired of gays twisting the truth to make it seem as if they are being denied their rights. They have domestic unions which grant them the same legal rights as marriage. Why can't they leave marriage alone. They seem determined to spit in the face of everything normal people believe in. and yes..I'm saying that gay is not normal....just because they feel like being gay is normal doesn't mean it is. I don't care what they do behind closed doors but don't try to force us to call it normal. There are warped indviduals who "feel" that having sex with children is normal and that it should be allowed. It's not and normal people see it as it is....warped! We tolerate gays as long as they don't hurt innocents...

If a religious group made that same statement, the overzealous ACLU would be all over them to make them stop......and "separation of church and state" doesn't exist in our Constitution people! It was a phrase Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter 13 years after our Constitution was ratified. Our Constitution simply states that there will be no establishment of a state church....in other words, that there would be no designation that one church is the official church of the United States. No media outlet will ever correct that misinformation. Our forefathers founded this country as a country of believers.

So, you're gay. I'm really curious... how do you deal with the stink of sh*t all the time when you have sex? And, the gosh-awful stink of a man on you're body? Also, isn't interesting how so many homosexual men have such trouble sleeping? And really deep down in the core issues with their fathers? I don't wish gays evil. I do think what they do is a sin... but I've sinned too in other ways. I've lied. I've cheated in the past. I've though ill of others. Sin is sin, and our goal should be to reach past it... to find grace and forgiveness, and constantly ask for the power to leave sin and death in the dirt and constantly strive for new life.
