I personally have decided to call in “gay”. (I think KEZJ's morning show is going to do a “bit” with me on it that morning as well.) But I also know that for some, given the economy and personal circumstances, it's probably impossible to get the day off. Since the idea is taking the day off to do some sort of service project, I'm wondering if there would be any interest in for every hour you can't take off if you'd donate a dollar to the SIGLBT community center?

My idea would work like this..

say you have to work 8 hours..that would be an 8 dollar donation. If you're interested in participating you send me an e-mail with a good time/place to pick up your donation, I'll be more then happy to swing by and pick it up that day. I'd also like to hear from anybody else who CAN call in “gay.” Maybe we could coordinate efforts. My husband, Ryan, is one of those who can't call in that day so I've already got 8 bucks in the kitty :-)

Also if any allies you know would be interested in also making a donation, let me know.

e-mail me ASAP if you'd like to make a pledge for “A day with out a gay!”. Include your name, phone number, and an address to pick up the donation on the 10th. (keep in mind this isn't a community center “sanctioned “ event, just something I want to do to help the cause.
