First of all, there is a very fine line between social discrimination and legislated discrimination. It would maybe be somewhat similar if, for example, you weren't allowed to adopt children when you were overweight, because fat people were deemed BY LAW to be unfit parents.
As far as the social aspects of discrimination are concerned. I won't pretend to know what being obese is like. That's an experience I can't really comprehend, because I've never been obese. And I'm sure there are a whole set of socialized insecurities that come along with that. I won't begin to try and quantify the hardship of that experience with the hardship of being gay by contrasting and comparing the socialization of gay people with the socialization of body image. Or by number of hate crimes against LGBT people every year versus the number of weight motivated violent crimes. And I won't employ the countless case studies which suggest that the vast majority of overweight people in the country and the world are overweight as a result of habit rather than genetic predisposition. Mainly to avoid anyone trying to claim that being gay is a choice. And because there certainly are people that have extenuating medical conditions involving deficient metabolisms and the like. All I want to point out, is that if you have experienced some form of discrimination, any form of discrimination, shouldn't that make you more sensitive to the plight of others who also suffer. Rather than vomiting up some half-baked defeatist argument advocating the path of least resistance in the face of adversity. How many of your civil rights are you missing again?"
